Banking Chiefs Discuss Career Paths as Germany-Kazakhstan Trade Surges
Igor Wagner, head of Deutsche Bank AG's Kazakhstan office, and Aleksandr Morosow from Citibank recently spoke to young members of the Association of German Youth in Kazakhstan (VDJK) about career paths in the banking sector. The event highlighted the growing ties between Germany and Kazakhstan, with exports from Kazakhstan to Germany surging by 56.8% last year.
Wagner, who moved to Germany from Kazakhstan at 11, leverages his knowledge of both countries in his role. He oversees Deutsche Bank's activities abroad, which account for 56% of its work. The bank favours supporting companies operating holistically in trade and value creation chains, promoting sustainable supply chains.
Citibank's Morosow, born in Russia with German roots, discussed his bank's significant presence in Kazakhstan. Citibank's payment volume is one of the largest in the country, with notable cooperation with major companies, international investors, and the government. Kazakhstan's attractiveness as an investment destination for Germany is growing, with 752 companies with German participation active in the country.
The event showcased the opportunities in the banking sector for young professionals in Kazakhstan, with both Deutsche Bank and Citibank playing significant roles in the country's growing economic ties with Germany.
