Baden-Württemberg Leaders Visit Innovationscampus: Region's Bid for Biomedical-Tech Hub Spotlighted

Baden-Württemberg's Minister-President, Winfried Kretschmann, and Minister of Science, Petra Olschowski, will visit the Innovationscampus Health + Life Science Alliance Heidelberg Mannheim on September 4, 2025. The visit highlights the strategic importance of the region's scientific prowess and its ambitions to become an internationally recognised biomedical-technological hub.

The Alliance, initiated by seven leading research institutions in Heidelberg and Mannheim, aims to foster cooperation and translation of research results into practical applications. During the visit, Prof. Dr. Michael Boutros, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wick, and Dr. Andrea Leibfried will provide insights into the Alliance's current status and future prospects.

The day's events include an exchange with researchers and founders presenting their projects and startups, as well as short presentations by Prof. Dr. Kerstin Goepfrich, Prof. Dr. Michael Platten, Prof. Dr. Sandy Engelhardt, and Prof. Dr. Dr. Felix Sahm on cooperation, translation, and application of research results. A 'Gallery Walk' will showcase innovations from the region's research and startup scene.

The visit by the Minister-President and Minister of Science underscores the high strategic importance of the science location Heidelberg for Baden-Württemberg. The Alliance, funded by the state, continues to develop the Rhine-Neckar region into an internationally visible biomedical-technological hub, focusing on life sciences, health economy, and medical technology.
