AI's Impact on Workforce Evolution: Reinventing Roles in Corporate Sectors through Lifelong Learning
In the rapidly transforming digital ecosphere, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is urging organizations to rethink their business processes at an unprecedented pace. Amid this digital shift, concerns about integrating AI into a company's day-to-day operations without sidestepping employees arise. These queries formed the crux of discussions during the tenth chapter of the Human Resources Summit, hosted by our website.
Sergio Mondino, Technology and Analytics HR Leader at Pan American Energy, addressed these issues in an interview with journalist Carla Quiroga. Mondino underscored the omnipresent impact of AI, stating, "It's a transformative force that permeates all professions and areas."
The linchpin for this transformation, as discussed by Mondino, is speed. With readily available technology and conversational tools, even non-technical individuals can swiftly analyze data, make complex decisions, and draw insights in mere minutes.
People's adaptability to this digital advancement is not an easy task, however. In response to this challenge, Pan American Energy has setup an AI Lab, an innovative workspace designed to familiarize employees with cutting-edge tools on the market. The objective, as Mondino explained, "is to empower people to harness technology in their daily routines, enabling them to focus on human capabilities that machines cannot replicate."
Mondino outlines three categories of employees when implementing technology strategies: the technology enthusiasts, those still learning, and those who need persuasion. "Our goal is to ensure that no one is left behind," he emphasized. To facilitate this, Pan American Energy has digital platforms that cater to each employee's unique learning process and encourage motivation.
AI's influence extends beyond just day-to-day tasks. In the HR department, AI is facilitating more efficient processes. As an example, Mondino mentioned a predictive model capable of anticipating employee turnover, allowing organizations to take preventive measures. Nevertheless, he clarified the importance of context and human judgment in such systems.
The rise of AI also necessitates new roles within the HR sector, such as systems engineers, data scientists, model designers, and those crafting AI prompts.
Embracing a data-driven approach and continuous learning, according to Mondino, is crucial to staying relevant in the job market. "The ability to adapt to change and learn continually is paramount," he stressed.
