Aiming for a Career in Photography Through Higher Education
In the heart of academia, Daniel Schnock, a military veteran, is honing his photography skills at an unspecified institution. With a passion to improve and a drive to succeed, Schnock is immersing himself in the history, colour, Photoshop, and art behind photography.
Prior to joining the AOS program, Schnock had limited knowledge about digital photography. Now, he is making strides, feeling that his skills have significantly improved since starting the course.
Schnock, who is a family man, owns a business called Palm Valley Firearms. He aspires to share his skills in cleaning, customizing, and maintaining firearms with his local community. However, his goal isn't just limited to the world of firearms. Schnock aims to use his enhanced photography skills to promote his business and reach a wider customer base.
Before his academic journey, Schnock worked for the Wounded Warrior Project in various roles. This organisation serves veterans with service-related injuries who left the military after September 11, 2001. Schnock's role involved connecting veterans to each other, the organisation's programs, and the community.
Schnock believes that sharing photography and displaying socialisation at events is an effective way to engage veterans. His time with the Wounded Warrior Project has instilled in him a deep sense of community and a desire to give back.
During his time as an exchange officer in Australia (2007-2010), Schnock taught the Australians about logistics and the US Army. He fondly recalls the Australian culture, particularly their passion for sports and BBQs with friends.
Balancing work, family, and academic commitments, Schnock stays organised, starts assignments early, communicates with instructors, and has the flexibility to work it into his busy work schedule.
Currently, Schnock is midway through his second semester in the AOS in Digital Photography program. His future goal is to become a better photographer to further promote his business. While the specific impact of his digital photography skill development on his business and volunteer work is not publicly available, it is clear that Schnock is committed to continuous learning and community engagement.
Schnock is enrolled in a degree program focused on digital photography, striving to strengthen his skills in photography as part of his education-and-self-development. As he progresses through the AOS program, Schnock intends to utilize online-education resources for additional learning, with the long-term goal of enhancing his photography portfolio to promote his business and engage his community.
