Academy appoints Beth Settlemoir as head of the division of arts and sciences within the school
Gateway Community and Technical College's Arts and Sciences Division Thrives Under New Dean
Beth Settlemoir has been appointed as the dean of arts and sciences at Gateway Community and Technical College, a role she has been fulfilling as interim dean for the past year. Settlemoir, a graduate of Ohio University, has made significant contributions to the college's academic pathways, student success, and enrollment growth.
During her tenure, Settlemoir played a crucial role in fostering collaboration and a strong commitment to both faculty and student achievement. One of her key achievements was the development of multiple academic pathways within the Division of Arts and Sciences. These pathways enable students to seamlessly transfer credits and pursue four-year degrees at partner institutions such as Northern Kentucky University, Thomas More University, the University of Cincinnati, Mount St. Joseph University, and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science.
Under her leadership, the Division of Arts and Sciences saw a 7% increase in enrollment from 951 students in 2023–24 to 1,016 students in 2024–25. This growth outpaced the broader 4% increase across the Kentucky Community and Technical College System's arts and sciences divisions, demonstrating her effectiveness in attracting and retaining students.
In her new role as dean, Settlemoir will oversee full-time faculty, lead curriculum development and assessment efforts to enhance academic excellence, and guide program growth and innovation aligned with student needs and Northern Kentucky’s workforce demands. She will also continue to play a significant role in student success at Gateway.
Settlemoir holds a Master of Education in school psychology from the University of Cincinnati. Her expertise in education and her commitment to student success make her an ideal fit for her new role. Settlemoir will lead curriculum development and assessment initiatives to advance academic excellence at Gateway, ensuring that the college's course offerings align with the evolving needs of students and the Northern Kentucky workforce.
With Settlemoir at the helm, Gateway's Division of Arts and Sciences is well-positioned for continued growth and success in meeting educational and workforce objectives. The college's students can look forward to a bright future under her leadership.
