105 Suspected Medical Negligence Cases Under Investigation at University Hospital Sussex

An estimated 105 cases of suspected medical negligence at University Hospital Sussex over six years are now under investigation by Sussex police. Senior NHS neurosurgeon Dr Mansoor Foroughi, who was dismissed in 2022, raised these concerns during his employment tribunal. He alleged that a colleague was approved to perform advanced spinal surgery without proper training or supervision.

Dr Foroughi described the hospital's culture as a 'gang culture' during his tribunal. He also claimed another colleague performed procedures resulting in unexplained high levels of death and harm. Dr Latifa Patel, a BMA representative, expressed concern about the treatment of doctors raising patient safety concerns at the trust. Victims of suspected medical negligence at University Hospital Sussex may be entitled to compensation.
